Toyota Aurion AT-X claimed its third best large car title in four years at the 2009 Australia's Best Cars Awards, as voted by the nation's top motoring clubs.

Toyota's Aurion AT-X has won its third best large car title in four years after Australia’s motoring clubs voted it best in class at Australia’s Best Cars Awards ceremony last night in Melbourne.

Aurion AT-X beat popular "big six" rivals, including the Ford Falcon XR6 and Holden’s Commodore Omega.

Judges said Aurion AT-X won due to its overall value for money, safety, build quality and 'silky' V6 engine.

Aurion AT-X won the same award in 2006 and 2007, and reclaimed it in 2009 by, “recording higher scores in more critical aspects of the nineteen areas of assessment” according to the judges.

Judges also claimed Aurion "delivers a remarkable value for money package".

Aurion AT-X came out on top in pricing, cost of depreciation, running and repair costs and practicality.

It also recorded joint top scores for warranty, safety, environment, build and finish quality, ride and smoothness and quietness.

Judges were particularly impressed with the car's engine, saying, "Aurion continues to offer a sophisticated V6 engine which remains a standout for silky power and performance, delivered to the front wheels via an equally slick six-speed automatic transmission. Durability also underpins the Toyota reputation."
